EX BOX / Time Construction 3
Frankfurter Kunstverein 2005
The intervention was based on the processes of dismantling the Info Box (architects Schneider+Schuhmacher), which had served as an information office during the Westhafen redevelopment during 2001-2005. I intervened in the process of dismantling and transport by redirecting the latter. As planned, the Info Box was dismantled, stripped and disassembled into its individual parts by a company. All the dismantled red façade parts were stacked on one of the many material transporters. This is where the deviation from the planned process began: the various stacks came to rest on a base of light consisting of a variety of the lamp types present in the Info Box. This transport was diverted from its actual route and interrupted and parked in Frankfurt's city centre between the railway station and trade fair districts. At the temporary stand, a generator supplied the 94 lamps with energy from 11.00 to 23.00 and made them shine. Afterwards, the transport to the actual destination was resumed on the truck.
