HOLES
2005–2012
For the HOLES series, blotting papers with pre-punched holes were used. These are used for older evaporators. Later I started punching holes in papers myself. My interest was in trying to fill the holes, which mostly failed. In some drawings, lines were placed in relation to the holes. This was also the case on the blotting paper "My Flag", which was soaked with water and thus began to undulate. The blotting paper refers to Meret Oppenheim. There is an early ink drawing of mine from 1985 that was made when I learned of her death. It shows her flag with a hole in it and refers directly to a drawing of hers with the same title. "My flag" on blotting paper can be seen as my self-portrait waving gently at her.
