WITHOUT HORIZON
2005–2011
Drawings from the series WITHOUT HORIZONT are transcriptions of found images. There are usually several of them, i.e. the same image is "written" again and again in different ways. The ground text - the original drawing - is not reproduced in its entirety. The blanks are constitutive for the emerging image and create an imperceptible absence, a void.
"No Trinity after all these years" makes an exception. Here the image comes from an early memory, on the one hand the game of hide-and-seek in the forest where the catcher sets up 3 wooden logs as a pyramid while the others have time to hide. The pyramid of logs is the place where everything is decided: the catcher, once he has discovered a hiding place, will proclaim the unfreedom of the discovered there, but while the catcher is searching, they can all venture out of hiding unnoticed and knock over the pyramid of logs. Then everything starts all over again. - Another memory is that of religious education when Trinity was explained. We were asked to represent it with one eye in a triangle and rays coming out. I was very unsatisfied with this, because the story of the three in one fascinated me immensely and I thought the drawing was stupid.
