During the night when the old escalators were replaced by new ones, they were temporarily stored on the pavements of a shopping centre in the middle of Brussels. What interests me is this moment of suspension. The important devices of mobility are temporarily taken out of circulation and placed in the middle of traffic. Old and new structures are of equal importance, but have a different appearance plastically. While the old ones show their achieved disfunctionality, the new ones hide functionality and design. The interest lies in the co-presence, in the collapse of the timelines.
