OVERSPILL
Art and Architecture project along the Limmat promenade of the thermal bath 47, Baden 2023
Since time began, the thermal water made its way through marl layers and found its way to the surface under ideal pressure conditions. Spring fountains gave the water a visible functional and also ritual outlet already in ancient times. Today, the thermal water is collected in pipe systems and distributed to the owners according to a key. This happens underground and is completely hidden from our view. The work entitled OVERSPILL refers metaphorically to the invisible underworld of thermal water and to the system of various springs in the baths. The existing spring catchments and pipe connections for distributing the water are further conceived as an imaginary pipe system. This system emerges from the depths into the daylight and performs in the newly designed promenade zone along the river Limmat, which is accessible to all.
