TWO OR THREE THINGS
Museum Doondt Dhaenens, Deurle BE, 2000
Memory Cage Editions, Zürich 1999
The upper corner of the cloakroom in the museum is doubled up with a construction of sheetrock. Inserted are CD players and loudspeakers.
In the spoken word piece, a boy produces two series of numbers, one ascending, the other descending. He counts things he sees in the recording studio, things that may also be in the listener's room (the piece was first conceived as a radio broadcast). If his wandering gaze falls on the same thing twice, he names it. Mostly the things disappear behind the numbers, only sometimes a word jumps out ...lightswitch.....door.... The two series of numbers overlap in the play.
